Azada

The other filly to take out of the Meadow Court Stakes is Azada. Dermot Weld's filly travelled through her race like a high-class filly. She moved up on the outside early in the home straight, she travelled best of all to the two-furlong marker, and she quickened up smartly to hit the front on the run to the furlong pole. In the end, she couldn't see off the late challenge of the classy One Look, but it was still a smart performance on her first attempt at 10 furlongs.

Winner of the Listed Garnet Stakes over a mile in October on her final run last season, the Siyouni filly ran well in the Listed Glencairn Stakes on her last run before Sunday over nine furlongs, when she just faded late on. She was stepping up in grade and up in trip on Sunday, when she shaped as if she might do even better back over nine furlongs or even a mile. She holds an entry in the Group 3 Desmond Stakes over a mile at Leopardstown next month, and she will be of interest if she lines up in that. She has form on easy ground too, so interest in her will be heightened as we move into the autumn. A mile on easy ground could represent optimum conditions for her.
