Jordans

Jordans kept on well to finish second behind Impaire Et Passe in the Grade 1 Faugheen Chase at Limerick. Held up early on by Richie Deegan, Jordan's jumping wasn't overly fluent at times, but he was still able to travel well into his race. Still last of the seven runners in a bunched-up field as they raced around the home turn, he made nice ground on the far side among horses to move into fourth place on the run to the second last fence. Third at the last, he kept on well up the run-in and, while he couldn't get to the winner, he did stay on well enough to take second place, just in front of Search For Glory.

This was another good run from Jordans on just his fourth run for Joseph O'Brien. Winner of three of his four bumpers in France, he kept on well to win a Grade 3 race over an extended two and a quarter miles at Punchestown in October, before unseating early on in the Grade 2 Craddockstown Chase in November. The slow pace wasn't ideal here, he did well to get as close as he did to Impaire Et Passe, an Aintree Hurdle winner, a Baring Bingham Hurdle winner, coming from the rear and trying to make ground into a quickening pace, but he still posted a career-best effort.  The handicapper raised him by 8lb to a mark of 145, but he will still be of interest off that mark if he goes down the handicap route. The two-and-a-half-mile handicap chase at the Cheltenham Festival would be a legitimate target. He handled this soft ground well, but he goes well too on better ground, and he should do better with a stronger pace at which to aim.
